MY DEAR FRIEND, A Happy St Valentine’s day to you! I fear it is somewhat grotesque to follow something so sentimental with a return to a story of murder, however I know you will be anxious to hear more of the tale of the Reigate Squire. You will recall that I had taken Holmes to a friend’s estate for recuperation, however when a murder occurred nearby, I was helpless to prevent him from going to explore the scene of the crime.
